Microneedling is a treatment which improves skin texture, reduces fine lines , sun damage, scarring and stretch marks by stimulating collagen production. A Derma pen containing micro needles penetrate the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response resulting in collagen production. Collagen is an essential protein that helps keep the skin looking youthful with a firm, smooth and stretchy texture. Aging causes the decline of collagen in the skin contributing to wrinkles and other signs of aging. Skin can also lose collagen due to injuries such as acne scarring, stretch marks, or other scars. Before the application of the Derma pen the skin area to be treated has a numbing cream applied which helps to minimise any mild discomfort that may be experienced.
The Derma pen head contains a disposable cartridge of 12 micro needles which vibrate very quickly as they glide over the skin. During the treatment the Therapist will move the Derma pen over the skin and the needles will puncture the top Epidermis layer of skin but no deeper. The Derma pen is used in tandem with a specially crafted serum for your skin type, which is designed to aid in the healing process, protect against infections and rejuvenate the skin. Microneedling does not result in any bleeding of the skin, however the skin area treated will appear reddish for a day. After your treatment your therapist will give you another serum as part of an after care package which must be applied twice a day for five days after the treatment. For the best results it is recommended that clients have three treatments two weeks apart.
